While some recipes include ingrediets that I don't use nor would I be likely to purchase like truffle oil, most of the ingredients, are, refreshingly, normal seeming ones that I am likely to have and use.

I forgot to add the canned tomatos to the soup at the end, but it was really good anyway. I also did not add the green chiles to the muffins, although I think they would be good - I just did not have any this time. And the muffins were great anyway. I also made a modified version of the Caprese salad and it was great too. I showed the cookbook to a friend of mine who came over tonight when the soup was cooking and smelling delicious and we both agreed that we want Chuck.

If we had him cooking these delicious foods for us constantly, then we would be as thin as Sheryl Crow too. Even if we wouldn't, we still want Chuck. This is really a good cookbook filled with simple, delicious recipes that don't have a lot of exotic ingredients.

The backstory is that Sheryl hired Chuck after her breast cancer diagnosis to try and eat healthier. Chucks recipes are healthy, interesting and most importantly, tasty! They are organized by season and what's available at the market during that time. I've made four different recipes so far - white bean dip, roasted vegetable and quinoa pasta salad, Salmon with Blueberry BBQ sauce, and zucchini muffins. I only made minor adjustments here and there, like leaving the nuts out of the muffins and grinding up the raisins with the zucchini, and they were all delicious.

The health tips in the book are from a real accredited nutritionist, Rachel Beller, and not just from the cook. My only criticisms are that some of the ingredients can be a tad expensive truffle oil, organic meat - but it's usually possible to substitute. It's not very healthy. Yes she recommends SOY products a lot, but then adds lots of butter, sugar and whole cream. There are almost NO pictures of the prepared recipes. A recipe for soup will be paired with a gorgeous photograph of a bunch of fresh parsley. Although I am an experienced cook, I do like to see photographs of the prepared dish.
