Where to buy deck restore

I have my deck rails painted with SherwinWilliams paint. Should I be covering them while applying the stripper. Will it strip away new coat of Sherwin Williams paint if in contact? I am planning to stain only the deck floor. The stripper does not remove paint unless the paint is peeling.

You can cover or just prewet and rinse any overspray right away. I put restore 4x over stain on my railings on deck. Can I stain over it with regular stain? No, you will have to fully remove it by power sanding it all off. I have an old deck built with pressure treated wood. Majority of the decking has a red oil based stain. However, the skirting on the sides was painted with red paint.

I would like to strip it and put a different color stain, semi-solid preferred. Will this stripper remove paint or should I get a separate type of stripper for the painted portions. No stripper will remove the paint, it will have to be sanded to remove. I live in Oregon and have a 4 year old badly stained cedar deck with black mold that I want to strip and restain.

I've ordered the Restore a Deck product, and would like to save time on sanding by stripping the old stain off. If I use the stripper, do I need to use the cleaner? Does the cleaner, stripper or brightener kill mold spores? I read in the comments that you can strip, sand, then brighten. If that's correct, are there time periods between stripping, sanding, brightening and staining that must be adhered to? Thank you! No need for cleaner if stripping.

It will remove the mildew. If you sand, do it after the stripping. Try to prep within a few days and stain with a week or so after. Thank you. Does removing the mildew kill the black mold spores?

Or do I need another product to kill them? I have pressure washed and sanded the majority of my deck. However, I have built in wooden bench seating with previous stubborn stains I can't seem to remove. The areas of concern are hard to reach with my sander or to close to other pieces of wood in which the sander won't reach. Would using this RAD stripper work and sand the address by hand? Other suggestions? Thanks for any advice. Either the RAD Stripper with both additives or sanding would help to remove this.

Brightener last. I have metal deck spindles that I believe are powder coated black. Does the stripper harm metal? Ir should not but always test spot first. I stained a 20 year old pine deck 7 years ago with TWP , over an old prior unknown stain which had darkened to nearly black.

I bleached the old stain before applying the TWP , but did no other prep. It is time to restain with TWP and I'm not sure how to prep the deck. Will RAD stripper remove the old stain or do I need to sand it? Will try attaching photos.

Our deck was stained with an oil based translucent Behr stain. We want to do a semi-transparent stain in a natural colour. We are in Southern Ontario, Canada. Follow up question: We did our 2 smaller decks and they turned out great!

Can we clean and brighten one day and stain the next? If we have to do it over a few days, is it best to do the top first and then the posts? Or posts first?

Any suggestions as to how best to manage a pergola this size would be helpful. You can break up the pre and stain over two days, with no issues. Start from top-down when staining.

You can buy from our site and have it shipped to Canada. What I should use in stain? Oil or water base? Kdat pine 8 months old, will use cleaner and brighter by RAD. Full sun to full shade. Size 25 by 15 ft. Sent pic. Thanks David location Va coast. I can't seem to get the photo to upload. Originally it had a transparent stain on it, then semi-trans, and finally a solid Behr stain. Some areas have pealed slightly, but I'd like to take it complete down to the bare wood and start over with a transparent or semi-trans.

Will your stripper, with the additives, accomplish what I'm looking to do? You will need to power sand if you want to remove a solid stain. That would depend on the type of stain and how many coats applied. We would need more info to say for certain and some pictures. I've owned our home for 4 years it was built in and I haven't done anything to maintain our cedar deck except for some beeswax two years ago.

Recently I've really begun to notice how dirty it looks gray but cedar colored in the deep corners and there are some slivers I have caught in my socks.

The deck is about sqft and gets a lot of sun in New Mexico. What do I need to do to it now to help with the appearance and slivers? Lisa J. I have some new fir exterior doors that were coated with polyurethane one year ago at the recommendation of an unreliable professional painter.

They are south facing and were hit hard by the sun here in NM, so the finish has completely deteriorated. I need to restore them and prefer to use a water-based stain, so I can easily recoat in the future as needed.

I assume I will have to sand like crazy to remove the polyurethane. Do you have other suggestions for prepping and staining these doors? Only way to remove this is to power sand. My deck was looking pretty bad. I don't know what kind of stain was on it. I power washed the deck. I am looking to use a solid stain color. Do I need to do any other color removal work before applying stain if I power washed it. Adding second picture to my previous post, didn't upload correctly.

Cleaner and then brightener is the proper way. I am planning to prep my deck with the rad cleaner and brightener this weekend. If it rains before I can stain is that ok as long as I wait the 48 hours for it to be completely dry? Original coat was Armstrong and recasting with same stain. I have the restore deck cleaner but not brightener. Do I need to do both or is the cleaner enough? Best to use both as the Brightener neutralizes the Cleaner. Do I need need this before staining new wood for first time?

I have new wood deck which was kept un-stained for 3 months. I have to clean that deck before staining. So wanted to know is it safe for new wood?. Please advise. Yes, you need this for new wood prep. Is Gemini restore a deck the same as what you sell here?

Looking to stain it with Armstrong Mahogany. What would be the process for cleaning and staining a newly built pressure-treated wood front porch flooring? The porch is covered but the house is south-facing. Also, when it rains, about 3 feet of the porch flooring perimeter still gets wet. Do I need to use cleaner and brightener for a maintenance coat after two years if there is no sign of degradation to the original AC semi transparent stain?

Or would just a mild soap and water clean prior to a recoat be sufficient? The maintenance video you provide shows a preparation for a failing deck surface not a maintenance coat, in my humble opinion.

Clean and brighten is the proper way to prep when recoating. You need to clean and brighten, not just brighten. Will the cleaner or brightener react with aluminum? Typically never an issue but always test spot first to be certain as they are not all made the same way. Can you mix less than 5 gallons at a time? I need only a gallon of mix for a small project. What would be the ratios? Does stripper, brightener or stain affect plants or stain natural stone or concrete unit paving stones?

Cover plants. Does not harm stone or pavers. So any drips onto the stone or concrete can be washed off? Even the stain will wash off? Sorry, you have to cover all when staining. The prep will not harm the stone or bricks. The cleaner often does not dissolve completely and if I can just premix it and let it sit for a long while maybe it will dissolve better.

The Cleaner has to be used within hours after mixing with water. Hi there, We stained our fence last year with AC semi-transparent Cedar. Can we just use the Cleaner and Brightener and then use the new stain color or do we have to do more prep for it to look even? Use the stripper and brightener kit. Hello I have a 20 year old cedar deck, The handrails were stripped, pressure washed, then sanded with 60 grit orbital sander. I attached a picture of the progress with handrail sanded and part yet to be sanded.

And if using brightener, can I wait a week to stain as I will be out of town or don't brighten until i can stain within 48 hours? I intend on using cedar semi-transparent Thanks. Clean and brighten all after the sanding is done. Let dry for 48 hours to stain.
